What Makes Something "Ad Hoc"
نویسنده
چکیده
We are all familiar with the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." In this case we have an instance of "the disease is in the eye of the beholder" which of course explains whY the cure is so elusive. The beholder rarely wants to do anything about it. To discuss this more subjectively, let's take a neutral case. Before doing so, we shall have to point out what a case can be expected to look like. A case of "ad hocness" usually fits the form (or should I say the "ad hoe" form)

Energy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization
Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
متن کاملA New Routing Algorithm for Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks based on Glowworm Swarm Optimization Algorithm
Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a particular type of Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) in which the vehicles are considered as nodes. Due to rapid topology changing and frequent disconnection makes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data among vehicles. In this paper, a new routing protocol based on glowworm swarm optimization algorithm is provided. Using the g...

متن کاملMorhe: A Transparent Multi-Level Routing Scheme for Ad Hoc Networks
This paper presents a transparent multi-level routing scheme, named MORHE, that improves the scalability of the OLSR protocol by exploiting the heterogeneous nature of nodes in the network. In our work we try to take an approach that focuses on scenarios where ad hoc technology can be applied, but where we also find nodes in the network with varying capacity. The MORHE protocol makes use of nod...
متن کاملEstimating Reliability in Mobile ad-hoc Networks Based on Monte Carlo Simulation (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Each system has its own definition of reliability. Reliability in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) could be interpreted as, the probability of reaching a message from a source node to destination, successfully. The variability and volatility of the MANET configuration makes typical reliability methods (e.g. reliability block diagram) inappropriate. It is because, no single structure or configurat...
